My practice is not limited to one medium but stretches into a wide range of processes in 2D, 3D and moving images. My former career as a scientist influences my attention to detail as well as my search for connection between us and our surroundings. I find inspiration in the loneliness of the rural landscape of Norfolk. My work plays on the idea of meaning and significance in objects and images.
Born in Berlin and growing up in a socialist dictatorship heightened the power of words for me and the messages found between the lines. Fluent in several languages, I explore context and connection of words in an often ironic way. Recently, one of my main focuses has been the interaction between images and words on the theme of body dismorphia. My work explores different approaches to visualise the tension between me and my body, mainly in the form of digital photography and manipulation of these images.
However, I always return to mixed media paintings that invite the viewer for a closer look since they challenge first impressions.
